For the Municipality of Trani, we developed Trani Autism Friendly plus, the service that maps the city's accessible places and shares its initiatives. Born from a collaboration between the Municipality, the local health authority ASL BT and local associations, it is aimed especially at families with autistic people or people with special needs. The solution includes two native apps, in Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, a Java backend and an Angular back office. The apps help people know, before leaving home, whether a bar, a restaurant or a cinema will be a comfortable place to be: accessibility features, address, opening hours and contacts, on a map or in a text list. The map, news and events are available without an account; signing up lets users join events and receive communications from the Municipality. As a public service, accessibility was the starting point: native apps to rely on the system's screen reader, larger text and high contrast, compliance with WCAG 2.1 level AA, and accessibility tests on every release.
